With weights in hand and a bass-heavy rhythm playing in the background, Peloton teacher Jenn Sherman faced an empty studio in 2020 as she sat on her stationary training cycle.

Sherman replied, “This song is from the soundtrack of a movie called ‘Tenant,'” probing the hundreds of devoted Peloton customers who were probably streaming the class from home whether they had watched it.

“Did anybody see this besides me?” She pleaded. Because I need a handbook. This has to be explained by someone. I am not joking.

Sherman went on with her pitch, stating that only a neurologist would be able to comprehend the film.

And there are 2.5 hours of my life that I would want to get back. Sherman said, “I want it back,” as he worked out his shoulders.

And that was all. The internet was silent on Sherman’s spontaneous, critical, and critical movie review. Her remarks were not taken seriously.

It wasn’t until Christopher Nolan, the director of “Tenant,” disclosed that he attended the course, that the internet went wild.

Christopher Nolan alluded to the “complex emotional relationship” directors have with critics and criticism while accepting the Best Director prize for his most recent film, “Oppenheimer,” at the New York Film Critics Circle Awards in New York City on Wednesday night. It seems apparent that Nolan doesn’t read reviews of his own work.

That is, until Sherman, the teacher, began her lecture while he was “gasping and dying” on his Peloton.

“He doesn’t ask you to work out more with him when Rex Reed takes an s— on your film,” Nolan jokingly said, addressing the reviewer.

Sherman was informed that Christopher Nolan had taken her lesson and may not have loved it, but it didn’t stop her from being thrilled that Nolan understood who she was.

Sherman said on Thursday night on Instagram, “I was excited.” She said, “And then I read the article,” perhaps alluding to Variety’s account of Christopher Nolan’s acceptance speech.

“I may not have understood a minute of what the hell was going on in ‘Tenant,'” Sherman said. “But, I have seen ‘Oppenheimer’ twice and that’s six hours of my life that I don’t ever want to give back.”

Sherman offered Christopher Nolan a front-row spot in any of her Peloton sessions as she concluded her video, an exclusive deal. She said he was free to give her whatever criticism he desired.
